Wow, where do I even begin on the past year from Oct. 1st 2021 to now October 2022?

Hello, I’m Seth Mason, Founder & CEO of The Esport Company. I’m now 24 years old, I remember being 19 in my college apartment starting my journey in Esports! Let’s get into it:

The High School Esports Series is back this October with more schools than the prior 2021 Fall season. With this growth and belief from the schools in PA, we’ve been fortunate enough to bring on more student interns and full time employees to help transform the City of Johnstown.

Speaking of the City of Johnstown, they believed in TEC enough to be one of financial partners in order for us to continue on our mission of rebuilding cities across the US. There’s no better feeling than having the support of the city we are transforming.

I sometimes dreamt of a time where I would walk down the street and people would recognize me. Well that happened this past summer from a student on Greater Johnstown’s Esports team and thought I was the coolest person in the world. Surreal feeling!

As we are on the topic of last summer, let’s discuss TEC CON 2022. TEC gave over $10,000 to high school students across PA for competing in the All-Star Games. Hearing the feedback from students, parents, and coaches made the event a success and something to build on for TEC CON 2023. To be honest, we didn’t even know if we could run the event until 45 days prior. The team patched as much as we could together in that time to make an impact for the first event.

Talking about the team at TEC. Wow. Much has changed since we were in our little office back in 2021. Being a leader of a team requires much more than what I’ve ever dealt with in my life. One thing I’ve learned in the past year is how you treat others and the culture built, is the direct reflection of yourself. I want to always keep the door open for for anyone who’s helped TEC get to where we are today. Let’s reconnect!

Oh, and we are HIRING, PAID OPPORTUNITIES, LOCAL & REMOTE. Check out our careers page to apply!

Onto today, we just launched our “TEC Esports” software! My experience over the past two years means this software and mobile app will transform how tournaments and events are ran at TEC. Connecting players to opportunities at each level from Youth to Amateur is what this software & app allows us to do.

“Amateur? Seth you quit on the Amateur Series!”

I did quit on Amateur Series of TEC. I knew deep down I didn’t want to do it but it needed to take a back seat in order for The Esport Company to thrive and grow. My goal is to bring it back in 2023 once the system is ready for it to be done right. I think it’ll be bigger and better than ever, especially with LAN events TEC has produced. Don’t call it a comeback though.

Coming back from what? My mental health in 2021 was at the lowest point in my life. The stress, unknowns, and personal issues all amounted in myself losing the fiery passion I had when starting The Esport Company in late 2020. Getting the help and support from friends and family started to make me feel I wasn’t alone in this fight. Mental Health is real. I hope one person understands it’s okay to ask for help if you’re struggling. It’s not embarrassing. It doesn’t make you less of a person. It makes you human. Let’s continue to increase Mental Health Awareness so no one has to feel like they’re alone.

Today, I feel the happiest in my life since I announced launching the company. I have the passion I strived for long ago. And I didn’t do it alone.

To the partners, sponsors, community, team, friends, and family who continues to believe in the Vision of TEC, THANK YOU! I remember being up late crying because I was lost and didn’t know what to do anymore. I wanted to quit. But I didn’t because of the support I had around. I truly appreciate the people who’ve given a second chance, who’ve listened, and who ultimately believed in the “crazy” vision I have of The Esport Company.

It’s GO TIME! 🚀
